Martin
Lou Martin, the author of “Wings
Over Persia” was an Air
Force pilot
for 22 years, nine of which
were overseas, and 169 combat
flight hours in Vietnam. He
returned in 1970 with the rank
of Lt. Col. After leaving the
Air Force, he flew as a captain
for Japan Airlines, and for
a charter company in Tehran,
Iran. He was in Iran during
during the overthrow of the
late Shah. Colonel Martin later
worked for the FAA as a B-747
pilot examiner, and Aviation
Operations Supervisor for the
U.S. Consulate Office in Frankfurt,
Germany.
Martin’s book, “Wing
Over Persia” is a pilots
true story of intrigue and adventure
of flying in the Middle East
during some very troubling times,
and provides a better insight
into the many problems we face
today, in dealing with this
confusing part of the world.
Lou Martin’s book was
selected as The Best Aviation
Writing by a Minnesotan, in
2004, by the Minnesota Aviation
Hall of Fame.
